Specially designed for passage through the Panama Canal, Island Princess is trimmer and more compact than other ships in the Princess cruise fleet. It packs a lot of action in its 91,627 tons and 964 feet, though. Cruising to the Panama Canal and Alaska, the ship carries 1,970 passengers on each voyage.
Island Princess Recreation
Island Princess offers a unique destination-focused cruise experience to her passengers. Everything from meals in the dining room to educational lectures is designed to help you learn about and celebrate your chosen destination. Island Princess also features some of the most popular activities and amenities offered by Princess cruises. Live shows and film screenings are available in the Princess Theater, two lounges feature nightclub-style acts, and the onboard casino is the place to go to try your luck. The ship also has several bars and pubs for low-key drinking and dancing. For active passengers, Island Princess provides a wide array of sporty recreation, including two swimming pools, six whirlpools, and a fitness facility with exercise equipment and classes. Golfers can choose between a 9-hole putting course or a virtual golf simulator. A full-service salon and spa is available onboard for pampering. Kids and teens are welcome to enjoy the ship's many youth facilities, including the Fun Zone for ages 3 to 12 and the Teen Zone for 12 to 17 year olds. Pelican's Pool and splash pool are also designed especially for younger passengers.
Island Princess Food
Food is just as important as fun on your Princess cruise, and Island Princess offers passengers an assortment of delicious options. For breakfast, passengers can choose between an in-cabin continental breakfast delivered via room service, a formal seated breakfast in the main dining room, or buffet service in Horizon Court featuring omelets made to order. Lunch options include a pizzeria, poolside grill, traditional formal dining room service, or a seemingly limitless buffet with salad bar and hot entrees. At dinnertime, the dining room offers traditional fixed seating as well as an "anytime" dining option. The Horizon Court features many items from the main dining room menu in a more casual setting. Specialty for-fee restaurants include Sabatini's Italian Restaurant and Bayou Cafe and Steakhouse for New Orleans-style cuisine. Private dinner service is available to passengers staying in a balcony room for a fee. Snacks are served daily at Sundaes ice cream bar, the patisserie, and afternoon tea in the dining room.
Island Princess Staterooms
