Description
Independence of the Seas is part of the modern Freedom-class of Royal Caribbean ships. Since its launch in April 2008, the 160,000-ton, 1,112-foot ship has offered up to 3,634 guests (per cruise) holidays to the Canary Islands, Europe, British Isles, Western Europe, and the Western Mediterranean.
Independence of the Seas Recreation
The Freedom-class has some of the best programs for kids and families, and Independence of the Seas is no exception. Children aged 3-17 enjoy dedicated facilities for their individual age groups as well as age-appropriate activities. With the H20 Zone kids’ water park, arcade, onboard ice skating rink, and kid-friendly workshops and activities, your kids will have a great time on Independence of the Seas. Babysitting is available in your stateroom for a fee. For older kids, there’s a teen dance club with juice bar. The ship’s family cabins are perfect for accommodating parents with young children.
Just because this cruise is family friendly doesn’t mean adults won’t have a great time, too. Casino Royale boasts 300 slot machines and a variety of table games. An adults-only swimming pool in the Solarium is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Visit the ship’s many themed bars and lounges at night to let loose, or be entertained with late night comedy and disco-dancing. The ship’s Royal Promenade is fun for the whole family with shops, restaurants, and street-fair-style parades.
The fitness facilities and day spa are top notch, as expected on a Royal Caribbean Cruise. A full gym with fitness equipment and group classes is open to all passengers. Try the Flowrider surf simulator or boxing lessons in the full-size boxing ring. Test your rock-climbing skills 200 feet above the sea on the rock-climbing wall. You can also swim laps in the dedicated sports pool, hit the court for a game of basketball, football, or dodgeball, play a round of miniature golf, or visit the spa for a relaxing massage.
Independence of the Seas Food
The three-deck formal dining room aboard this fantastic Royal Caribbean ship serves gourmet food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Specialty dining experiences include the family-friendly 50s-diner-style burger joint Johnny Rockets with outdoor seating, delicious Italian food in Portofino’s, steakhouse style dining at Chops Grille, and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream for an additional fee. Buffet-style food service is available during meal times at the Windjammer Café. Snacks are available 24 hours a day in Café Promenade or delivered directly to your room.
Independence of the Seas Staterooms
Standard stateroom options onboard Independence of the Seas include interior, promenade-view, exterior, balconies, and suites. Special family cabins offer extra space for more than two passengers. Balconies feature a private outdoor seating area with spectacular views, perfect for eating your breakfast al fresco. The magnificent Presidential Suite sleeps 14 with four-bedrooms, four bathrooms, giant private balcony, and hot tub. Every Independence of the Seas stateroom includes a full-size, flatscreen TV, private bathroom with shower, telephone, and extensive wi-fi capabilities.
