Explore the stunning features of the Freedom Class ships! There is everything from open air nightclubs to the Royal Promenade with its host of shops and eateries! The three sisters of the Freedom Class of ships from Royal Caribbean - Freedom of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas and Independence of the Seas – were the largest and most comprehensive cruise ships in operation until 2009 (when Oasis of the Seas took that particular crown).
Launched in 2006, the eldest sister, Freedom of the Seas, heralded a new age of cruise holidays with a range of world first features including stunning hot tubs cantilevered over the side of the ship and surf simulators for extreme sports fans. The ships cultivate a relaxed atmosphere throughout the days and nights of the cruise, allowing you and the family to truly unwind and enjoy your holiday.
As the name suggests, the three ships promised a high level of flexibility and freedom for all guests – allowing them to develop their own perfect holiday on the seas. Continuing the Royal Caribbean’s dedication to bringing cruise holidays to wider demographics, the three sisters received makeovers following the launch of the Oasis Class of ships. Keeping up with the latest cruise ship trends and features, the refurbishments of the three Freedom Class saw them receive upgrades in line with the newer and larger Oasis Class of ships.
Providing luxury getaways for the whole family, the ships incorporate age-specific areas allowing adults and kids alike to meet and mingle with their peers. The Freedom class of ships include a number of features to satisfy often difficult-to-please demographic, teenagers – with teen-only nightclubs and social areas.
Younger children are kept entertained aboard the Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas during days at sea by the characters of their favourite DreamWorks films including Shrek and the Penguins of Madagascar – as part of the DreamWorks Experience, which includes character interaction, photo opps, and the latest film releases playing on board.
The Freedom of the Seas currently calls Port Canaveral in Florida home as it cruises around Eastern and Western Caribbean, taking in some of the world’s most beautiful beaches and serene tropical paradises. Throughout the year the Liberty of the Seas will also join her older sister in Port Canaveral, offering short Caribbean cruises – perfect for recharging the batteries. When not in Florida and the Caribbean, the Liberty can be found cruising around Europe out of Barcelona.
The Independence of the Seas splits its time between European and Caribbean Cruises, calling Southampton and Port Everglades home respectively. Explore A full range of cruises from all inclusive packages to 16 day cruises from the Royal Caribbean Fleet.
