We are Britain's newest privately owned cruise line and 2013 is our fourth year of operating no fly cruises from a choice of UK ports. In 2011 and 2012, 95% of our guests rated the enjoyment of their cruise experience either excellent or good - high praise indeed! With a wide choice of cruising holidays to consider, our emphasis continues to be on attaining high levels of customer satisfaction and providing attentive and friendly service standards. We will continue to strive to ensure that our passengers return home with fond memories and will want to cruise with us again and again.
Marco Polo and Discovery are operated under charter by Cruise & Maritime Voyages who have a wealth of cruise industry expertise spanning almost four decades and are members of the prestigious Passenger Shipping Association and ACE - the Association of Cruise Experts. The newest addition to the fleet is the stylish and elegant Astor. A classic style cruise liner with an impressive reputation on the European market.
The 21,000 tonne Astor is a truly stylish, premium liner with an impressive reputation on the European market. Extensively refurbished in 2010, she is fully stabilised and air-conditioned with accommodation for just 600 privileged guests. The unique size of Astor offers an intimate country house style allowing you to enjoy the camaraderie that comes from being among a select number of guests and to be pampered by the very attentive crew.
On completion of her summer 2015 season, Azores will be re-named Astoria in line with our smaller ship offering alongside the similarly named 600 passenger Astor. This is in contrast to our larger mid-sized vessels; the Marco Polo and Magellan, adopting the explorer theme. In March 2016, Astoria will operate a two month spring season sailing from Bristol Avonmouth prior to the start of her summer season of cruising operating on the French market.
At 63,786grt, with a draft of 8.20 metres and overall length of nearly 250 metres, Columbus was purpose built for deep sea ocean cruising and we believe is ideally suited to the type of exciting scenic cruise programme we operate. She underwent an extensive refit in August 2015 and will be upgraded further in April 2017 before the start of her maiden CMV season.
Columbus has 775 passenger cabins including 64 de luxe balcony cabins and junior suites which will please many of our customers who have been asking for more balcony accommodation. Following the successful trial on board Magellan, and recognising the needs of single travellers, 150 cabins will be allocated for solos.
The 22,080grt Bahamian flagged Marco Polo with her handsome traditional profile, beautiful teak decks and distinctive dark blue hull is a classic ocean liner. She can accommodate up to 800 guests within a warm and friendly atmosphere that reflects a truly intimate cruise experience. Marco Polo is fully stabilised and air conditioned and has eight passenger decks serviced by three main lobbies and four lifts.
The Marco Polo cruise ship offers a wide range of public facilities including the impressive Waldorf Restaurant offering a traditional two sitting fixed time dining option and, as an alternative more informal experience, the stylish Marco’s Bistro. There are five main lounge areas. The Magellan Deck offers the theatre style Marco Polo Lounge; the elegant Captain’s Club, a perfect venue for pre-dinner cocktails with the resident pianist; relaxing Palm Garden, with wonderful panoramic ocean views; and the stylish Columbus Lounge where the head barman will soon get to know your favourite drink. Completing the quintet is Scott’s Bar, located on Amundsen Deck, an ideal spot for night owls.
Other amenities on board the ms Marco Polo include the well stocked Livingston Library, the Nansen Card Room, an Internet Café a shopping arcade and photo gallery, the beautifully appointed Jade Wellness Centre, which offers hairdressing & beauty treatments, fitness and exercise equipment, and sauna and massage facilities. There is an outdoor swimming pool, three whirlpools and a medical centre. In addition, and in keeping with her heritage, the Amundsen Deck offers a traditional walk around promenade.
There is a good selection of comfortable cabin accommodation ranging from standard to de luxe with 70% of cabins on board the Marco Polo cruise ship having an ocean view. Category options are priced generally according to position, size and facilities.
At 46,052grt she will carry about 1250 passengers accommodated in 726 cabins spanning nine passenger decks serviced by eight lifts. Her wide corridors and stairways and expansive deck areas with wood type decking in many areas exude a real feeling of spaciousness with a wide range of comfortable well appointed lounges and panoramic seating and observation areas ideally suited to our scenic cruise programme.
Combining expansive, comfortable surroundings and friendly service with stylish entertainment and delicious cuisine, Magellan is the perfect choice for those looking for a greater range of on board facilities. However, she still retains a feel of intimacy and personal attention when compared with the ‘mega’ resort style ships built today. No climbing walls or ice-skating rinks and no kids!
Magellan has two beautifully appointed dining rooms; the Waldorf and Kensington Restaurants and the more informal bistro for casual dining. The magnificent tiered main show lounge spans the height of two decks and affords wonderful viewing opportunities complemented by a host of superb lounge bars and public areas.
