AmaCello at a Glance

AmaCello is an AmaWaterways river ship launched in 2008, carrying up to 140 guests and looked after by a crew of 45. Her 71 cabins sit across a vessel stretching 109.7 metres, giving the ship the intimacy that defines river cruising at its best. She sails the Rhône, calling at Arles, Dijon and Lyon, with voyages of up to 11 nights departing from September 2026.

Dining on AmaCello

AmaCello offers two distinct dining experiences, both included in your cruise fare. The Main Restaurant is the culinary heart of the ship: open seating times, regional cuisine and river views combine to make every meal an unhurried pleasure. For something more theatrical, The Chef’s Table is an intimate space where a dedicated chef crafts a multi-course tasting menu in front of you — personalised attention, no extra charge.

Between meals, the Specialty Coffee & Tea Station is there whenever you want it — complimentary, self-service and stocked with speciality blends.

On-Board Life

The Main Lounge is where the ship gathers — cocktails at the fully stocked bar, informative talks about the ports ahead, and live entertainment in the evenings. Drinks and food here are charged separately unless covered by a beverage package, but the space itself is open to all.

On the upper deck, the Sun Deck offers unobstructed 360-degree views, ideal for watching châteaux and vineyards drift past. It doubles as an occasional open-air dining spot. Alongside it sits the Heated Sun-Deck Pool, which comes with an integrated swim-up bar — proper resort-style relaxation on a river ship.

Active guests are well served. A Walking Track circles the Sun Deck for anyone who wants fresh-air exercise, the Fitness Center carries modern cardio and strength equipment at no charge, and a fleet of complimentary bicycles waits on the dock so you can explore every port at your own pace — no guided tour required. When it’s time to wind down, the Massage & Hair Salon offers treatments for a charge, or the Library provides a quieter retreat with books and games, free of charge.

Cabins on AmaCello

AmaCello offers three cabin grades, ranging from a fixed outside window to a full suite with a French balcony. Full deck plans and every grade in detail are on the AmaCello cabins and deck plans page.

  • Outside Cabin D (15.8 m²): A fixed outside-view window brings natural light and river scenery to the most budget-friendly grade on board. Sleeps 2.
  • French Balcony Stateroom A (15.8 m²): Positioned on the highest passenger deck, this grade puts you first to take in the passing scenery through a full French balcony. Sleeps 2.
  • Suite with French Balcony (23.7 m²): At nearly 24 square metres, the suite offers the most living space on the ship, with a dedicated table and seating area alongside the French balcony. Sleeps 2.

Where AmaCello Sails

All current sailings on AmaCello follow the AmaWaterways programme on the Rhône, with departures from Arles, Dijon and Lyon. Itineraries of up to 11 nights take in the vineyards, medieval villages and Provençal landscapes that make the Rhône one of Europe’s most rewarding river routes. Sailings open from September 2026, with fares from £2,893pp*.

Why Book AmaCello with Cruise1st

As one of the UK’s leading cruise specialists, Cruise1st brings genuine expertise to AmaWaterways sailings — this is a line we know well, not a page in a general travel catalogue. Our expert cruise advisors are on the phone before you book to help you choose the right cabin grade and the fare inclusions that suit your trip.

Because every AmaCello departure is in France, the cruise sits in the middle of a longer journey. That is where our Cruise1st Packages come into their own: we arrange the flights from the UK, any hotel nights either side and all the transfers, putting the whole holiday on a single booking so there is nothing left to chase.

Other AmaWaterways Ships to Consider

If you are deciding between ships in the AmaWaterways fleet, you may also want to look at AmaMagna, Zambezi Queen, AmaVerde, AmaVenita, AmaDahlia and AmaLea — each a different ship in the same fleet.

Common Questions about AmaCello

Which Cabin Grade Should I Book on AmaCello?

If river views and budget are your primary considerations, the Outside Cabin D gives you a fixed window and natural light at the most accessible price. If you want a French balcony that opens to the air and a higher vantage point, the French Balcony Stateroom A on the top passenger deck is the step up. The Suite with French Balcony at 23.7 m² adds a proper living and dining area — worth it if you plan to spend meaningful time in your cabin between ports.

Are Dining and Activities Included in the Fare?

Yes — the Main Restaurant, The Chef’s Table, the Specialty Coffee & Tea Station, pool, walking track, fitness centre, bicycles and library are all included in your cruise fare. The Massage & Hair Salon is on board for a charge per treatment, and drinks in the Main Lounge are charged separately unless you hold a beverage package.

Do I Need to Arrange Flights Separately?

Not if you book through Cruise1st. All AmaCello sailings depart from France, so you will need to get to the embarkation port. We can arrange your flights, hotel nights either side and transfers as part of a single Cruise1st Package — nothing left to piece together on your own.

How Many Other Guests Will Be on Board?

AmaCello accommodates up to 140 guests, served by 45 crew members. That ratio — and the scale of the ship itself at 109.7 metres — gives the vessel a genuinely intimate atmosphere that larger vessels simply cannot replicate.
