DINING
When there’s no main dining room – and the buffet’s all but scrapped, where do you go to eat? On Virgin Voyages, you choose from any of the 20+ onboard specialty eateries. Foodies will head straight for the Test Kitchen for cooking tips in this experimental food lab. Veggies and vegans will adore Razzle Dazzle’s focus on plant-based meals. Elsewhere, choosing between Korean BBQ, casual Mediterranean eats, poke bowls, pizza and sushi is a test in itself.
ENTERTAINMENT
Virgin Voyages have given Broadway the heave-ho and replaced traditional musicals with raunchy, raucous and immersive performances. Late night cabaret, Shakespeare with a circus twist and a play that mingles dinner, romance and acrobatics. Expressive, often hilarious and not for the faint of heart, the performances across the ship push the boundaries – in all the right ways. For something a little more zen, a trip to Voyage Vinyl lets you pop on a pair of headphones and choose from a stack of classic, current and limited edition albums.
THINGS TO DO
Forget aqua aerobics. On Virgin Voyages, you’re more likely to nip to the tattoo parlour before a heated game of air hockey. Is Virgin Voyages a luxury cruise line?
- Yes, Virgin Voyages are a luxury cruise line – with a twist. Virgin Voyages describe the onboard experience as casual sophistication – or rebellious luxe. You might not find the traditional elements you’d expect on a luxury cruise, but there are high-end touches in everything from the decor to the 20 restaurants on board.
What drinks are included on Virgin Voyages ships?
- Soft drinks are included on Virgin Voyages ships. This includes soda, still and sparkling water, tea, drip coffee and juices. Virgin Voyages do not offer drinks packages. Pricing is comparable with boutique hotel prices and, to limit your drinks budget, you can create a pre-paid tab before you sail.
Does Virgin Voyages have themed nights?
- Yes, Virgin Voyages do have themed nights. Their signature theme night is Scarlet Night. All passengers are encouraged to wear red for a night of music, art and pop-up performances. Theme nights also include pyjama parties, retro nights and secret after parties.
Virgin Voyages Expert Tips
There’s no dress code on Virgin Voyages ships. Which means there’s absolutely no restriction on what you can wear across any of the venues – day or night. During your cruise, there may be a ‘Scarlet Night’. On these nights guests – or sailors, are asked to wear red, but it’s not compulsory.
