No fly cruises from the UK cover far more ground than most people expect. Sailings leave from Southampton, Tilbury (London), Dover, Liverpool, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Rosyth (Edinburgh), reaching destinations from the Norwegian coast to the western Mediterranean. Most sailings are round trips, so you disembark at the same UK port you boarded from — no one-way logistics to manage.
The most popular group of sailings stays closer to home, exploring England, the United Kingdom and the British Isles by sea. These itineraries suit anyone who wants to discover their own coastline from a completely different angle — cathedral cities, rugged headlands, working fishing harbours — without the need for a flight or even a full week off work. Scotland also appears, with sailings calling at ports along the western and northern coasts. Short breaks of just a few nights sit alongside longer voyages, making this the most flexible part of the range. If you have not tried a cruise around the British Isles before, this is where to start.
Norway is one of the most popular destinations, and for good reason: the fjords are reachable directly from UK ports with no flight involved. Itineraries typically run for around 7 to 14 nights, giving you time to take in the scale of the landscapes at a proper pace. P&O Cruises, Fred Olsen Cruise Lines and Cunard all operate no fly fjord sailings from Southampton and other UK ports — see the cruise lines section below for what each brings to that route.
No fly does not mean staying north. Longer sailings head south to the Canary Islands, the Western Mediterranean, the broader Mediterranean and Portugal. These voyages tend to run from around 14 nights upward and leave mainly from Southampton, giving you a genuine Atlantic passage as part of the journey. If you want warm water and sunshine without checking in a bag at Gatwick, this is how you do it.
Transatlantic sailings appear, and some of those one-way crossings connect with Caribbean itineraries beyond. It is worth noting that a small number of sailings are one-way — if your itinerary ends at a port outside the UK, you will need to arrange a flight home from that port. Cruise1st can book that flight alongside hotels and transfers, so nothing is left as a problem to solve on your own.
If you want a dedicated Caribbean fly-cruise, or are comparing the no fly and fly options side by side, our team can talk you through both. There are also Caribbean fly cruises in 2027 if that suits your plans better.
This page covers ocean cruises departing from UK ports — the sailings here are all sea voyages. River cruises are a different product: they operate on inland waterways in Europe and beyond and almost always begin with a flight to the embarkation point. If you are specifically looking for a river cruise, our fly and cruise packages page is the right starting point, where our team can put together the flight, the river cruise and any hotels as one booking.
Southampton has the widest range of no fly departures — it is the UK’s principal cruise port and most of the major lines operate from there. Some sailings leave from London: a handful depart directly from Tilbury or Greenwich, while Dover also serves as a London-area embarkation point. Southampton is a relatively short journey from London by road or rail and offers a far greater choice of sailings.
Beyond the south, Liverpool serves the north-west of England and Wales, Newcastle upon Tyne is the natural choice for the north-east, and Rosyth serves Edinburgh and central Scotland. Portsmouth also appears as a departure point for selected sailings. Most of Britain can reach one of these ports by road or rail without a long journey — which is the whole point.
P&O Cruises is the most prominent line, operating the largest number of no fly sailings from UK ports. Ambassador Cruise Line and Cunard both feature strongly, followed by Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, Holland America Line and MSC Cruises. Princess Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean also have sailings.
P&O is the line most closely associated with sailing from Britain. Arvia — the largest ship ever built for the British market — sails alongside Britannia, Ventura and Aurora. Arvia’s SkyDome combines a retractable performance stage with a swimming pool under 970 m² of glass, a venue found nowhere else at sea, and the ship carries more than 30 dining and bar venues including Sindhu, The Epicurean, The Glass House and the Keel & Cow gastropub. Aurora and Ventura both suit passengers who prefer a more traditional British cruise atmosphere.
Cunard’s four-Queens fleet sails from Southampton to Norway, the Mediterranean and on transatlantic voyages. Queen Anne, which entered service in 2024, is the newest addition to the fleet and brings Art Deco interiors, British White Star Service and 15 restaurants — including Sir Samuel’s steakhouse, Aji Wa Japanese dining and the Golden Lion pub overseen by Michelin-starred chef Michael Roux. The Mareel Wellness Spa spans an entire upper deck, with a Himalayan Salt Sauna, cold therapy room and glass-domed Pavilion pool. Explore Queen Anne’s cabins and deck plans to see which grade suits you.
Queen Victoria offers the largest ballroom at sea, Gala evenings with a live orchestra and white-gloved afternoon tea, and The Royal Court Theatre — the first at sea to feature private boxes, hosting West End-calibre productions nightly. Cunard’s tiered dining across Britannia, Princess Grill and Queen’s Grill restaurants is the most traditional class-dining experience afloat. See Queen Victoria’s cabins and deck plans if you are weighing up cabin grades. Queen Mary 2 also sails; check Queen Mary 2’s cabins and deck plans for the full grade range.
Ambassador operates 2 ships: Ambience and Ambition. Both carry around 1,200–1,400 guests, creating a notably intimate atmosphere compared with the larger ships. Ambience offers an Alfresco Grill for outdoor dining and spacious modern cabins throughout; Ambition covers a wide range of European and further-afield itineraries and has 5 dining venues on board. See Ambience’s cabins and deck plans for the full layout.
Nieuw Statendam brings HAL’s Pinnacle-class design to this page. The dramatic two-storey Wine Tower anchors the main dining room, Tamarind serves pan-Asian cuisine with an integrated 7-seat sushi bar, and the Music Walk hosts 3 live music clubs — Lincoln Center Stage, B.B. King’s Blues Club and Billboard Onboard — all included in the fare. Browse Nieuw Statendam’s cabins and deck plans before you book.
Cabin grades vary by ship, but the broad structure runs from inside cabins through to suites. Here is how the grades look on Ambassador’s Ambition, as an example of the range available:
Cunard’s Queen Anne cabin grades run from a 13.7 m² Britannia Inside (grade IA) with a 24-hour dedicated cabin steward, through a 21.9 m² Britannia Deluxe Ocean-view (EA) with a separate seating area, up to the Britannia Club Balcony (A1) — which gives exclusive access to the Britannia Club Restaurant with a reserved table for a more intimate dining experience — and the Queens Grill Grand Suite (Q1) at 133.8 m², the largest suite category on board.
On Ambience, the range runs from an 18 m² inside cabin on Deck 5, through an 18 m² ocean-view cabin with an unobstructed window, to a 21 m² balcony cabin with private outdoor seating, and up to the 52 m² De-Luxe Suite with suite perks included. Full details are on the Ambience cabins and deck plans page.
What is covered depends on the cruise line and the fare tier you choose.
Cunard offers a Cunard Fare that gives you choice of stateroom number, priority for upgrades, a low 15% deposit with flexible balance payment, the ability to amend your booking up to the balance due date, and complimentary shuttle buses at ports. A Saver fare is also available — lower in price, paid in full at booking, with a pre-allocated stateroom — suited to last-minute travellers who are flexible on cabin position.
Princess Cruises offers a Standard fare covering the cruise itself, alongside the Princess Plus package, which adds 4 casual dining meals per voyage, beverages up to a set daily limit, MedallionNet Max Wi-Fi, pre-paid crew appreciation, and reserved theatre seating. The inclusions differ meaningfully between tiers, so it is worth talking them through with our team before you book.
Our advisers can compare what each fare tier actually covers across lines — including fare types such as last-minute offers and promotional packages — so you are not left comparing descriptions on a screen. That is the practical value of booking with a specialist.
A number of sailings are available on an all-inclusive basis, covering drinks, dining and gratuities within the fare. If you want everything settled before you board, our team can filter to all-inclusive options and explain exactly what each one covers. There are also all-inclusive no fly sailings from Southampton if you want to narrow the search further, and all-inclusive Norwegian fjords cruises for that specific route.
No fly cruises are particularly well suited to solo travellers — you can board at a UK port without the additional cost or logistical complexity of a solo flight. Ambassador Cruise Line is notable here: both Ambition and Ambience are sized to feel genuinely sociable at around 1,200–1,400 guests, and Ambassador has a reputation for catering thoughtfully to solo passengers. Cunard and Fred Olsen Cruise Lines also carry dedicated solo cabins on selected sailings. Our advisers can identify which ships and departures work best for a solo booking, including which ones charge a reduced single supplement.
Not every no fly cruise needs to be a two-week voyage. Short sailings of just a few nights depart regularly from Southampton and other UK ports, covering the British Isles and nearby coastal waters. These work well as an introduction to cruising, a birthday or anniversary trip, or simply a long weekend at sea. Browse 3-night mini cruises from Southampton, short cruises from Southampton or 2-night cruises from Southampton if a shorter break is what you have in mind. Last-minute mini cruises are also worth checking if your dates are flexible.
Most no fly cruises from the UK are straightforward: drive or take the train to your port, board, and you are on holiday. But some passengers prefer a night in a hotel near the port the evening before departure, or want parking arranged as part of the booking. Others are joining a one-way sailing and need a flight home from a port outside the UK — in which case Cruise1st can book that flight, any hotels either side, transfers and tours as part of the same reservation.
Our Cruise1st Packages bring together cruise, accommodation, transport and insurance under one booking. There is no need to piece it together yourself, and if something changes you have one point of contact. Speak to our team about what you need and we will build it around your cruise.
Cruise1st is rated 4.5/5 on Trustpilot from over 7,000 reviews, and all our holidays are covered by ABTA and ATOL protection. Browse all cruises from the UK or explore the full cruise range if you want to compare fly and no fly options side by side.
No fly suits most UK travellers, but sometimes the destination or the itinerary makes a flight the practical choice. If you want to join a ship in the Caribbean, the Pacific or further afield, our fly and cruise packages and fly cruises in 2027 cover those options. Royal Caribbean fly cruises and Caribbean fly cruises in 2027 are popular starting points if you are considering that direction. Our team can help you decide which approach works best for your plans.
*Prices are per person based on 2 people sharing, and are subject to change. This price is not kept up to date and therefore does not reflect live pricing and availability. Prices and any discounts shown were checked on 14 October 2026.
Where a discount is shown, it is a reduction from the price previously listed for that cabin grade on that sailing, not a comparison between cabin grades or against a brochure rate. Discounts and prices shown are not kept up to date: the reduction available now may be smaller, or may have ended, and prices may have changed.
