Avalon Panorama is a river cruise ship operated by Avalon Waterways, sailing a rotating programme of itineraries across the Rhine, Danube, Maas and Main rivers in Europe. She is built for the intimate scale of European river cruising, with a guest count, deck layout and cabin mix suited to sailing through towns, vineyards and historic city centres that larger vessels cannot reach.
Every sailing we currently list is operated by Avalon Waterways, with departures spread across the Rhine (the busiest region in this programme), the Danube, the Maas and the Main.
Avalon Panorama's current programme spans four European rivers, with itineraries ranging from short autumn breaks to nine-night journeys through multiple countries.
The Rhine features most heavily, with sailings typically departing from Amsterdam or Basel — two of the most popular embarkation points in European river cruising. The Danube itineraries offer a different character altogether, moving through Central Europe with Budapest among the departure options. The Maas and Main rounds out a programme that covers a broad sweep of the continent's inland waterways.
Because all current sailings depart from ports in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland or Hungary, every booking involves flying to the embarkation port. Cruise1st can book the flights, hotel nights either side and transfers alongside the cruise itself — treating the cruise as the centrepiece of a complete holiday rather than an isolated booking.
Avalon Panorama offers two cabin grades, both designed for two guests. Full deck plans and availability are on the Avalon Panorama cabins and deck plans page.
Royal Suite (Grade S) is the largest accommodation aboard at 27.9 m². The suite is a balcony cabin, giving guests private outdoor access alongside generous living space — making it the natural choice for those who want to spend longer on the water in comfort.
Deluxe Outside Cabin (Grade D) comes in at 16.0 m² and features two windows, which flood the cabin with natural light and open up views of the passing riverbanks. For travellers who want a well-appointed room without the suite premium, this is the standard outside option.
As one of the UK's leading cruise specialists, Cruise1st brings genuine expertise to Avalon Waterways bookings — not the generalist knowledge of a high-street travel agent, but specialist understanding of river cruise lines, cabin grades and fare inclusions. That matters when you are weighing up the difference between a Royal Suite and a Deluxe Outside, or deciding which itinerary fits the time you have.
Real cruise experts are on the phone before you book — able to walk through the cabin options, the departure ports, and which itinerary suits your travel dates and budget. And because every current sailing on Avalon Panorama requires flying to the port, Cruise1st can pull flights, pre- or post-cruise hotel nights and transfers into a single Cruise1st Package, so the whole trip is on one booking rather than several.
Current fares start from £1,700pp* for sailings departing from September 2026.
The current programme covers the Rhine, Danube, Maas and Main. The Rhine has the most departures, with Amsterdam and Basel as the primary embarkation ports. The Danube programme includes a departure from Budapest.
Yes — every sailing currently on sale departs from a port in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland or Hungary, so a flight from the UK is required for all of them. Cruise1st can book the flights alongside the cruise, and add hotel nights and transfers if you want to arrive a day early or stay on after the sailing ends.
The Royal Suite (Grade S) is the largest cabin aboard at 27.9 m² and is a balcony cabin, giving direct outdoor access. The Deluxe Outside Cabin (Grade D) is 16.0 m² with two windows for natural light and river views. Both sleep two. The right choice depends on how much space and outdoor access matter to you — Cruise1st's experts can help you weigh it up before you book.
Current sailings run up to nine nights, departing from September 2026. The programme includes a range of lengths, so whether you are looking for a shorter autumn break or a longer journey through multiple countries, there are options to consider.
If space and a private balcony are the priority, the Royal Suite at 27.9 m² is the ship's most generous option. If you want natural light and river views at a different price point, the Deluxe Outside Cabin's two windows deliver both. Call Cruise1st's river cruise specialists and they can talk through the grades alongside specific sailings and dates to find the best fit for your trip.
