AmaMaya entered service in 2024, carrying up to 120 guests and 55 crew along the rivers of Southeast Asia. Her 60 cabins are spread across a 92-metre hull, giving an intimate ratio of roughly one crew member to every two guests. She sails for AmaWaterways and operates exclusively in the Mekong region, calling at ports in Cambodia and Vietnam.
Current sailings depart from Kampong Cham, Cambodia and My Tho (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam, with cruises of up to seven nights available and prices from £3,145pp*.
AmaMaya offers two distinct included dining experiences, so every guest eats well without paying extra.
The Main Restaurant is the culinary heart of the ship, open to all guests with flexible seating times and a menu focused on regional cuisine — all enjoyed with river views. For something more intimate, The Chef's Table turns dinner into an event: a dedicated chef crafts a multi-course tasting menu in front of you, combining culinary theatre with personal attention, and it is included in your cruise fare at no extra charge.
For drinks throughout the day, a Specialty Coffee & Tea Station offers complimentary self-service coffees and teas whenever you want them, and the Main Lounge bar carries a full range of cocktails and other drinks (charged separately unless you hold a beverage package).
The Main Lounge is where ship life happens — cocktails, evening entertainment and informative talks about the ports ahead all take place in this social hub, included in your cruise fare. Up on the Sun Deck, an open upper deck gives unobstructed views of the riverbanks and is used for alfresco dining when conditions allow.
Onboard wellness is covered by the Fitness Center, equipped with cardio and strength-training equipment at no extra charge, and a Walking Track on the Sun Deck for a morning jog in the open air. If you'd like a massage or a hair treatment during your cruise, the Massage & Hair Salon is available, with treatments charged separately. The Heated Sun-Deck Pool includes a swim-up bar, making it easy to cool off and refresh without leaving the water.
Quieter corners are found in the Library — books and games, complimentary and perfect for an afternoon out of the sun — and a Gift Shop carrying essentials, souvenirs and regional keepsakes.
One feature that sets AmaMaya apart ashore: a Complimentary Bicycle Fleet is available to all guests, letting you explore each port at your own pace without joining a guided excursion.
AmaMaya carries two cabin grades, and both are designed to keep the Mekong close at hand. Full layouts and deck-by-deck plans are on the AmaMaya cabins and deck plans page.
Balcony Cabin A (23.3 m², sleeps 2) features a French balcony that opens to river views — fresh air and passing scenery without leaving the room. Luxury Suite L (46.6 m², sleeps 2) delivers genuine suite comfort at nearly double the footprint, with separate living areas for guests who want more space to spread out.
All current sailings take AmaMaya through Southeast Asia, following the Mekong through Cambodia and Vietnam. Departures sail from Kampong Cham in Cambodia and from My Tho, the gateway to Ho Chi Minh City, in Vietnam.
Because every sailing in the current programme requires flying to the region, the cruise sits naturally at the centre of a longer trip. Cruise1st can book your Cruise1st Package — flights, hotel stays either side and transfers, all arranged as one holiday so you have a single point of contact from the UK to the Mekong and back.
Browse available departures on our Far East cruises page, or search directly for Southeast Asia cruises in 2026. If you know you want to travel from the UK, our Southeast Asia cruises from the UK search filters to sailings with UK-convenient connections.
As one of the UK's leading cruise specialists, Cruise1st has specialist knowledge of AmaWaterways — not a general travel agent's overview, but real familiarity with how the line operates and which cabin grade suits which type of traveller. Our expert cruise advisers are available on the phone before you book to talk through the options: cabin grade, fare inclusions and how best to piece together the journey from the UK to the Mekong.
Because every AmaMaya sailing currently requires flying to Cambodia or Vietnam, a Cruise1st Package makes the most sense for most guests: flights, hotel nights either side of the cruise and all transfers arranged together, so the whole trip sits on one booking.
If you're weighing up AmaWaterways vessels, Cruise1st also features several other ships in the fleet. AmaMagna and AmaVenita sail under the same flag, as do AmaVerde, AmaLea, AmaDahlia and Zambezi Queen. Each operates in a different part of the world, so the right choice often comes down to itinerary rather than ship alone — our advisers can help you compare.
Yes — every current AmaMaya sailing departs from Cambodia or Vietnam, so a flight from the UK is required. Cruise1st can arrange this as part of a complete package, including flights, hotel nights at either end and transfers, all on one booking.
The Main Restaurant, The Chef's Table, the Specialty Coffee & Tea Station, the Heated Sun-Deck Pool, the Fitness Center, the Walking Track, the Library and the Complimentary Bicycle Fleet are all included in your cruise fare. The Main Lounge bar charges for drinks separately unless a beverage package applies, and the Massage & Hair Salon charges for treatments.
If space and separation between sleeping and living areas matter most, the Luxury Suite L at 46.6 m² gives genuine suite comfort. If you want a connection to the river and a more compact footprint, the Balcony Cabin A at 23.3 m² with its French balcony is the right choice. Both sleep two guests. The AmaMaya cabins and deck plans page has full layouts to help you decide.
Current sailings run for up to seven nights. The full range of available departures — including exact durations and itineraries — can be browsed on our Southeast Asia 2026 cruises page.
Yes. AmaMaya carries a complimentary bicycle fleet available to all guests, so you can ride into each port at your own pace without booking a guided tour. The Main Lounge also hosts informative talks about upcoming ports of call to help you plan your time ashore.
