AmaRudi at a Glance

AmaRudi entered service in 2025 as the newest addition to the AmaWaterways fleet. She carries up to 196 guests and is crewed by 70 people, giving a guest-to-crew ratio that keeps service attentive throughout every voyage. Her 135-metre hull navigates the Danube with ease, and with 98 cabins spread across the ship, the atmosphere on board stays intimate even when fully booked. The highlights that set her apart:

  • Launched 2025 — one of the newest river ships sailing the Danube
  • Heated sun-deck pool with a swim-up bar
  • Complimentary bicycle fleet for independent shore exploration
  • Two included dining venues — the Main Restaurant and The Chef's Table
  • Up to 14-night itineraries departing from Budapest and Vilshofen

All current sailings follow the Danube, with departures from Budapest, Hungary and Vilshofen, Germany.

Dining on AmaRudi

AmaRudi offers two included dining venues, so every meal is covered in your cruise fare without a supplement.

The Main Restaurant runs on open seating — no fixed times, no assigned tables — and serves regional cuisine with river views framing every meal. It is the sociable centrepiece of the ship, where informal conversation with fellow guests comes naturally. For something more considered, The Chef's Table delivers a multi-course tasting menu prepared by a dedicated chef in an intimate setting; it is culinary theatre at no extra charge. Wherever you choose to sit, complimentary specialty coffees and teas are available throughout the day from the self-service Specialty Coffee & Tea Station.

On-Board Venues and Atmosphere

The Main Lounge is where the ship comes together in the evenings — cocktails at the fully stocked bar, informative talks about the next port of call, and live entertainment after dinner. Drinks are charged separately unless you hold a beverage package, keeping the atmosphere relaxed without a fixed programme.

Up top, the Sun Deck provides unobstructed views of the Danube's riverbanks — ideal for watching the scenery roll past or dining in the open air when the weather allows. The Heated Sun-Deck Pool makes the upper deck genuinely usable across the sailing season, and the integrated swim-up bar means you rarely need to leave the water to refresh your drink.

The Library offers a quieter retreat with books and games for when you want a break from the deck. The Gift Shop stocks essentials, souvenirs and regional keepsakes — browsing is free, purchases are your own choice.

Keeping Active on AmaRudi

AmaRudi makes it straightforward to stay active without spending extra. The Fitness Center is stocked with modern cardio and strength equipment — complimentary to use, with specialist classes available for a charge. The Walking Track on the Sun Deck lets you jog or walk in the open air with river views as your backdrop. On shore, the Complimentary Bicycle Fleet is one of the ship's most popular features: guests can borrow a bike at no cost and explore the ports independently, at their own pace, without joining a guided excursion.

The Massage & Hair Salon is there when you want something more restorative — access is free and treatments are charged separately.

Cabins on AmaRudi

AmaRudi's 98 cabins range from well-appointed outside rooms to a generous suite. For full layouts and deck-by-deck plans, visit the AmaRudi cabins and deck plans page.

Outside Cabin D (19 m²) — A fixed river-view window fills the room with natural light and keeps the Danube in sight throughout the day, making it a solid choice for those who want a view without the balcony premium.

Suite SA — Upper Deck (33 m²) — Proper suite proportions at 33 m² with genuine room to spread out. Positioned on the upper deck, it offers the elevated vantage point that suits anyone who wants to be in the best spot to watch the river.

Owner's Suite OS (66 m²) — At 66 m², the Owner's Suite is the largest cabin on the ship and offers more than twice the floor space of a standard balcony cabin. For guests who want the very best in river-cruise comfort, this is the clear choice.

Why Book AmaRudi with Cruise1st

As one of the UK's leading cruise specialists, Cruise1st has specialist knowledge of AmaWaterways and can advise on which cabin grade and fare inclusions suit your travel style — real cruise experts on the phone before you commit to anything. Every sailing to the Danube requires a flight, either to Budapest in Hungary or Vilshofen in Germany, so we put together the entire trip as a Cruise1st Package — flights, hotel nights either side, transfers and the cruise itself on a single booking. It is the easiest way to travel, with no separate pieces to manage.

Other Ships in the AmaWaterways Fleet

If you are weighing up which AmaWaterways ship to sail on, Cruise1st also features AmaMagna, Zambezi Queen, AmaVenita, AmaVerde, AmaLea and AmaDahlia — each another ship in the AmaWaterways fleet worth considering depending on your itinerary and travel dates.

Common Questions About AmaRudi

When Did AmaRudi Launch?

AmaRudi entered service in 2025, making her one of the most recently built river ships currently sailing the Danube. Her 2025 build means the cabins, technology and on-board design reflect the most current standards in the AmaWaterways fleet.

Which Ports Does AmaRudi Depart From?

Current Danube sailings depart from either Budapest, Hungary or Vilshofen, Germany. Because both require flying from the UK, Cruise1st can arrange the full trip — flights, accommodation either side and transfers — packaged together with the cruise so you have nothing to book separately.

Which Cabin Grade Should I Book on AmaRudi?

It depends on how much space and light matter to you. The Outside Cabin D (19 m²) is the entry point for a genuine river view; the Suite SA on the upper deck (33 m²) gives you noticeably more room and an elevated position; and the Owner's Suite (66 m²) is the most spacious cabin on the ship. Our cruise experts can talk through the differences and help you match the right grade to your budget — call us before you book.

Are Meals Included in the Fare on AmaRudi?

Yes. Both dining venues — the Main Restaurant and The Chef's Table — are included in your cruise fare, as is the Specialty Coffee & Tea Station. Drinks in the Main Lounge are charged separately unless you hold a beverage package, and spa treatments at the Massage & Hair Salon carry a charge.

Can I Explore Ports Independently on AmaRudi?

Yes, and AmaRudi actively encourages it. The complimentary bicycle fleet is available to all guests at no charge, so you can borrow a bike at any port of call and explore at your own pace without booking a guided excursion. The ship also carries a walking track on the Sun Deck for daily exercise while you are on the river.
