Scenic Eclipse II is an ultra-luxury expedition vessel operated by Scenic, built in 2023 and carrying a maximum of 228 guests across 10 decks. At 17,545 gross tonnes and 168 metres in length, she is an intimate ship by design — small enough to access remote anchorages yet substantial enough to carry two helicopters, a custom submersible, Zodiacs and kayaks as standard expedition equipment. The sailings currently on sale depart from Buenos Aires, Argentina and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, heading into the waters of South America and Argentina.
What sets Scenic Eclipse II apart from a conventional luxury vessel is her expedition arsenal, which is integral to the itinerary rather than an optional extra.
Together these three capabilities mean the ship itself is the start of the exploration, not merely the vessel that drops you near it. If you are considering South America cruises in 2026 or looking at South America cruises in 2027, few ships can match this range of ways to engage with the destination.
Scenic Eclipse II offers eight distinct dining venues covering everything from a casual breakfast to a formal multi-course tasting experience, with several included in the cruise fare and others carrying a separate charge.
Crystal Dining is the main restaurant, serving regional cuisine with open seating and landscape views — included for all guests. Yacht Club covers relaxed daytime dining for breakfast and casual lunch before becoming a bistro in the evening, also included. Night Market @ Koko's brings Asian street-food-style small plates in an informal setting, included in the fare so guests can graze at their own pace.
For evenings when you want something more focused, Elements offers a seasonal tasting menu of modern international cuisine (reservations required; à la carte charges apply). Alongside it, Chef's Table @ Elements presents a multi-course menu with matched wines at an exclusive seating — both the food and wine carry separate charges. Lumière delivers refined French courses in an intimate setting, also with a cover charge. Koko's Asian Fusion and its dedicated Sushi @ Koko's bar round out the à la carte options with pan-Asian cooking and freshly prepared sushi and sashimi respectively.
Guests booked into a suite can also order around the clock through In-Suite Dining, delivered by a personal butler — a service exclusive to suite-grade cabins. The Azure Bar & Café on deck provides light meals and beverages with pool views throughout the day.
Four distinct bars serve different moods. The Scenic Lounge Bar is the social heart of the ship, with cocktails and live music in a relaxed setting. The Sky Bar sits on the upper deck beside the Vitality Pool with open-air panoramic views — ideal for sundowners. The Lumière Champagne Bar offers premium champagnes and aperitifs in elegant surroundings. And the forward-facing Observation Lounge is designed specifically for watching landscapes pass while you relax with a drink — particularly compelling on an expedition itinerary where the scenery beyond the glass is the main event.
The Senses Spa brings together treatment rooms, an infrared sauna, a salt therapy room, thermal areas and a salon under one roof. The relaxation and thermal areas — including the infrared sauna and salt therapy room — are free to access; individual treatments, specialist therapies, and salon services such as haircuts, styling, manicures and pedicures carry separate charges. The Vitality Pool on the Sky Deck is heated and included for all guests, with sun loungers and unobstructed sea views. The Fitness Centre is open to everyone and equipped with modern cardio and strength equipment; most group classes are complimentary, while premium classes and personal training cost extra.
Every accommodation aboard Scenic Eclipse II is a suite. At the pinnacle sits the Owner's Penthouse Suite, which spans 195 m² — an extraordinary amount of private space for two guests, complete with a private spa pool and an expansive terrace. Full details of all suite grades, sizes and deck positions are on the Scenic Eclipse II cabins and deck plans page.
The Theatre hosts live performances, expert talks and destination briefings — all complimentary with the cruise fare. On an expedition voyage, the lecture programme is a core part of the experience: understanding the ecology, history and geography of the places you are visiting adds considerably to what you see when you step ashore or climb into a Zodiac.
The sailings currently on sale through Cruise1st depart after September 2026, with voyages of up to 21 nights operating in South American and Argentine waters. Departures are from Buenos Aires, Argentina and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil — both ports require a flight from the UK, which means this cruise sits in the middle of a longer trip. Cruise1st books the flights, hotels either side and transfers as one complete holiday through our Cruise1st Packages service, so there is one booking to manage rather than several. Browse all available sailings on our South America cruise pages or search specifically for Argentina cruises. If you prefer to filter by departure point, every sailing from Buenos Aires and from Rio de Janeiro can be found on their respective port pages.
Fares for available sailings start from £17,357pp*. For a full picture of what is on sale, explore our South America cruise search or browse luxury cruise options across the fleet.
As one of the UK's leading cruise specialists, Cruise1st has specialist knowledge of the Scenic line rather than the generalist approach of a high-street travel agent. Real cruise experts are available on the phone before you book — useful when the difference between a verandah suite and an Owner's Penthouse is measured in tens of thousands of pounds and several dozen square metres. We help you pick the cabin grade and the fare inclusions that suit your circumstances and put the whole holiday on one booking.
She carries two helicopters, a custom-built submersible called the Scenic Neptune, a fleet of Zodiacs and kayaks. The helicopters and submersible operate on select voyages and may carry additional charges; Zodiacs and kayaks are included in the onboard programme.
Several venues are included in the cruise fare — Crystal Dining, Yacht Club, Night Market @ Koko's and the Azure Bar & Café among them. Other restaurants including Elements, Lumière, Koko's Asian Fusion, Sushi @ Koko's and the Chef's Table apply à la carte or cover charges. Suite guests have complimentary around-the-clock in-suite dining delivered by a butler.
Yes — current sailings depart from Buenos Aires, Argentina and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, so a flight from the UK is required. Cruise1st can book flights, accommodation either side and transfers together as a single Cruise1st Package, treating the cruise as the centrepiece of a complete holiday rather than a standalone booking.
She carries a maximum of 228 guests — a deliberately small number that allows access to remote anchorages and a level of personal space and service that larger ships cannot match. The low guest count is a defining feature of the expedition model rather than a limitation.
The Owner's Penthouse Suite is the flagship accommodation, at 195 m² for two guests. It includes a private spa pool and an expansive private terrace. Every cabin aboard is a suite — details of all grades and their deck positions are on the cabins and deck plans page.
