A fly cruise is exactly what it sounds like: you fly out to your embarkation port, board the ship, and sail. For UK travellers, this opens up destinations that would otherwise require weeks at sea just to reach — the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, Japan, Alaska and more. Most sailings depart from ports in the United States, Singapore, Greece, Italy and Spain, so your flight is the bridge between home and the ship. Cruise1st Packages bundle that flight with the cruise, hotels and transfers into one booking, so there is no juggling of separate reservations.
The range of destinations spans three broad directions — the Americas, Asia and Europe — with the Caribbean leading the way in terms of sailings available. Here is what is on offer in each part of the world.
The Caribbean accounts for more sailings here than any other region, with most departing from Florida. Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades) and Miami are both popular embarkation points — they sit about half an hour apart, so a Florida fly cruise can sail from either, and it is worth checking both for dates and prices. Port Canaveral is another Florida departure point worth considering if you are already visiting that part of the state.
Transatlantic crossings also feature, bridging Europe and the Americas in a single sailing — typically ending in Barcelona or beginning in Fort Lauderdale. These are largely one-way voyages, so a flight home from the far end is needed; we can book that alongside your cruise.
For those who want a longer adventure, Alaska sailings depart from the west coast of North America, with Vancouver featuring as an embarkation port.
Southeast Asia is the second largest destination group, with sailings that board in Singapore — one of the most popular embarkation ports in the entire collection, used by both Princess Cruises and Celebrity Cruises. Many of these are one-way itineraries, ending in Sydney, Australia or elsewhere in the region, which means a return flight will be needed at the conclusion.
Japan cruises represent another strong strand, with East Asia adding further depth for travellers who want to explore beyond Japan’s coastline.
If you are drawn to the South Pacific, Polynesia sailings are also available for those wanting something genuinely different.
The Mediterranean is well represented, with both the Western Mediterranean and the Eastern Mediterranean on offer. Barcelona is a key embarkation port in the west, while Piraeus (Athens), Greece serves Eastern Mediterranean itineraries. Rome (Civitavecchia) features as another departure point, useful if you want to add a few nights in Rome before or after your sailing. See our Mediterranean cruises 2027 page for a focused look at these sailings.
Princess Cruises leads with the greatest number of fly cruise sailings here, covering the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, Japan and Alaska. Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean both offer strong programmes, particularly in the Caribbean and Mediterranean. MSC Cruises and Virgin Voyages round out the main lines. For further value-focused options, our last minute cruise deals and cheap cruises pages cover even more choice.
Several ships stand out across this collection — here is what makes each one worth noting.
Launched in February 2024 as the first vessel in Princess’s all-new Sphere class, Sun Princess brought 29 dining and bar options to the fleet — more than any other Princess ship. The standout space is The Dome, a multi-level glass-enclosed deck inspired by Santorini terraces, with an indoor/outdoor pool that transforms into an evening entertainment venue after dark. The three-storey Horizons Dining Room and the Piazza atrium with ocean views give every meal a sense of occasion. If you are considering cabin grades on Sun Princess’s decks and cabins, the options run from a compact 13.5 m² Inside cabin through to a 117.2 m² two-bedroom Sky Suite.
Star Princess joined the fleet in 2025, and is built with more than 1,500 balconies — the highest count of any ship in the Princess fleet. With over 29 eateries, bars and lounges on board, there is plenty of variety across a longer sailing. Check the Star Princess cabins and deck plans for the full range of staterooms.
Comprehensively renewed in 2026, Celebrity Solstice now features a new Trattoria Rossa, Fine Cut Steakhouse and a Sunset Park terrace, alongside refreshed Retreat suites. The Lawn Club — a genuine half-acre of real grass on deck — hosts live Hot Glass Show demonstrations and outdoor cinema, which is unlike anything found on most ships. Suite guests staying in The Retreat have access to a private pool sundeck, the Luminae restaurant serving Daniel Boulud menus, and dedicated butler service. For cabin choices, the Celebrity Solstice cabins and deck plans page covers everything from the 17 m² Inside cabin I1 to the 156.1 m² Penthouse Suite with its private hot tub.
Celebrity Edge introduced the Magic Carpet — a cantilevered platform that travels 13 floors along the ship’s exterior, doubling as a restaurant, bar and an al fresco Dinner on the Edge venue. Its Infinite Veranda staterooms open the balcony wall fully into the cabin, creating indoor-outdoor living that is unique to this class of ship. The three-storey Eden venue hosts Cirque-style performers within a living garden setting. See the Celebrity Edge cabins and deck plans for the full stateroom breakdown.
The Olympic Restaurant aboard Celebrity Millennium carries genuine walnut panelling salvaged from RMS Olympic — Titanic’s sister ship — making it a dining room with a real piece of maritime history built in. Le Petit Chef delivers a 3D animated dinner show alongside a multi-course tasting menu, and AquaClass staterooms unlock access to the exclusive restaurant Blu and the Persian Garden thermal spa. Full stateroom options are on the Celebrity Millennium cabins and deck plans page.
Diamond Princess is well matched to Japan and Asian itineraries. The Izumi Japanese Bath is the largest Japanese-style onsen at sea, and the dining line-up includes Crown Grill, Kai Sushi and Makoto Ocean by Chef Makoto Okuwa. MedallionClass technology means OceanNow delivery to wherever you are on the ship. If Japan is your destination, this ship fits the itinerary in a way that few others can. Cabin options run from a 15.6 m² Inside cabin to the 123.5 m² Grand Suite — all on the Diamond Princess cabins and deck plans page.
What is covered in your fare depends on both the cruise line and the fare tier you choose. Here is how the main lines structure their inclusions.
Princess offers 2 main tiers on these sailings. The Standard fare covers the cruise itself, with drinks, Wi-Fi, dining and gratuities available to add separately. The Plus package bundles 4 casual dining meals per voyage, beverages up to a daily limit, MedallionNet Max Wi-Fi, pre-paid crew appreciation, unlimited digital photographs plus 3 prints, and reserved theatre seating — a meaningful set of inclusions for anyone planning to eat and drink freely on board.
Celebrity’s best-rate fare covers dining, entertainment and onboard activities in its base form, letting you add extras as you choose. The All Inclusive fare steps up to bundle a classic drinks package with basic Wi-Fi, removing the need to track drinks bills at sea. The Retreat tier — reserved for suite guests — adds premium drinks, premium Wi-Fi, exclusive lounge and sundeck access, private dining in Luminae and dedicated personal service.
Royal Caribbean offers a range of fare types on these sailings, including promotional rates such as last-minute fares for late bookers and early booking incentives with onboard credit. A solo traveller fare is also available for those sailing alone. Our team can walk you through which fare type fits your travel dates and budget.
A good number of sailings in this collection carry a reduction from their previously listed cabin price. Discounts reach up to 49% on a single departure, though that is the upper end of a wide range — most reduced sailings sit around 8% off the price previously shown for that cabin grade. If you are flexible on dates, it is worth filtering by price to find where the reductions are strongest. Our last minute fly cruise deals page is also worth a look if timing allows.
Embarkation ports are spread across four continents, reflecting the genuinely global reach of this collection. The busiest are:
A small number of sailings in this collection depart from UK ports, meaning no flight is required at all — useful if you prefer to reach the ship by road or rail. If that suits you better, our no fly cruises from the UK page has the full range.
As one of the UK’s leading cruise specialists, Cruise1st handles more than the cruise itself. We can book your flights, hotels before and after the sailing, transfers between airport and port, tours at your destination, and travel insurance — all as a single holiday rather than a collection of separate bookings. That matters on a fly cruise because the logistics are more complex than a UK departure: a missed connection or a gap night in port is not your problem to solve if everything is on one booking with us.
Our cruise experts are available by phone before you book, so you can talk through cabin grades, fare inclusions, and whether a particular itinerary suits your travel style. That is the difference between booking with a specialist and booking direct. You can also explore our cruise and stay holidays if you want to extend your time at either end of the sailing.
Cruise1st is ABTA and ATOL protected, and rated 4.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot from over 7,000 reviews.
If you know roughly where you want to go, these pages narrow things down quickly:
Not sure whether a fly cruise or a UK departure suits you better? Our fly cruises hub gives a broader overview, or browse the full cruises listing to compare both.
Where a discount is shown, it is a reduction from the price previously listed for that cabin grade on that sailing, not a comparison between cabin grades or against a brochure rate. Discounts and prices shown are not kept up to date: the reduction available now may be smaller, or may have ended, and prices may have changed.
