The historic port city is located in north-western England and has a population of about 435 000. Liverpool's port is the second largest export port of Great Britain and its historic part was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004 and was also declared 'European Capital of Culture'. Le Verdon-sur-Mer is a small village with about 1400 inhabitant and is situated on the Atlantic coast. It is home to a rich nature, characterized by extensive beaches, forests and bogs. One of the more interesting landmarks is the lighthouse of Cordouan.
