Oceania Riviera launched in 2012 and sails for Oceania Cruises, a line built around food, destination-richness and an unhurried pace at sea. A few things a reader sizes her up by:
Current sailings depart from Yokohama (Tokyo), Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Seattle, Vancouver, Bali and Auckland, spanning Southeast Asia, Japan Cruises, Alaska Cruises, Australia and New Zealand, and transpacific repositioning voyages of up to 70 nights.
Riviera carries eight distinct dining venues, several of them among the most distinctive afloat — and the flagship Grand Dining Room, Terrace Café, Aquamar Kitchen and Waves Grill are all included in your cruise fare.
The Grand Dining Room anchors the ship’s food offer: daily-changing menus with at least ten starters and ten mains each evening, continental classics alongside global flavours, and the Executive Chef’s own tasting menu. No reservation, no supplement.
Polo Grill is the classic steakhouse — premium aged USDA Angus beef, Maine lobster and grilled swordfish, served à la carte with a cover charge. Jacques brings classical French cuisine reimagined by Master Chef Pépin: Coq au Vin, Confit de Canard, an extensive cheese trolley and a serious wine list, all à la carte. Toscana plates multi-generational Italian family recipes on Versace porcelain, in a room dressed in Chianti leather, hand-blown Venetian glass and Carrara marble.
Red Ginger is the ship’s Pan-Asian table — Thai, Korean, Japanese and Malaysian flavours, premium sake, Asian beers and lemongrass cocktails, with a reservation and cover charge required. For something more intimate, Privée seats just eight guests for a wine-paired multi-course tasting menu by La Reserve, beneath a blossom-shaped ceiling installation and chandelier.
Casual dining is just as considered: the airy Terrace Café serves grilled lobster and rotisserie meats at dinner alongside a full breakfast and lunch spread; Aquamar Kitchen offers a bright Mediterranean menu of energising bowls, fish tacos and Lebanese plates; and Waves Grill handles poolside burgers, herb-marinated fish and hand-dipped milkshakes without a supplement. Baristas pours complimentary Illy coffee with 270-degree sea views throughout the day.
The Culinary Center is one of Riviera’s defining spaces: a full teaching kitchen where chefs lead hands-on classes in the regional cuisines of each destination, included in your fare and extendable with optional food tours ashore. The Artist Loft offers painting, drawing, sculpture and photography sessions — each voyage carries a different programme, and you leave with a piece of work. The LYNC Digital Center runs complimentary smartphone and travel-photography masterclasses, while the wood-panelled Library with floor-to-ceiling glass walls is a quiet place to read or research the next port.
On deck, the Running Track & Sports Deck circles the top of the ship with open-ocean views, and is included in your fare. The Fitness Center carries treadmills, strength equipment and a Kinesis® wall, with complimentary group yoga and pilates sessions; personal training is available at a charge. The Aquamar Spa + Vitality Center covers spa treatments and salon services — the fitness facilities are complimentary, individual therapies are priced separately. The pool deck takes a calm, organic approach with shaded cabanas and waterside daybeds available for an additional charge. A European-inspired Casino offers roulette, blackjack and cocktails (entry free; wagers and drinks charged separately), and a curated run of Boutiques rounds out the shopping.
Riviera’s cabin range runs from an efficiently designed inside room to one of the most generous owner’s suites in the premium cruise market — full details and deck plans are on the Riviera cabins and deck plans page.
Suite and Concierge Level guests access both the Executive Lounge and Concierge Lounge — private, keycard-secured retreats with complimentary drinks, coffee and snacks throughout the day, and a team dedicated entirely to suite guests.
Every sailing currently on sale departs from an overseas port, so all of them involve flying to join the ship — Cruise1st can book the flights, hotels either side and transfers as one complete holiday.
The largest share of sailings covers Southeast Asia, calling across Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and beyond, with departures from Singapore, Bali and Bangkok (Laem Chabang). Japan sailings — a consistent highlight of the deployment — depart from Tokyo and Yokohama; browse Japan cruises in 2026 from Tokyo or Japan cruises in 2027 from Tokyo to see what’s on. Alaska sailings depart from Seattle and Vancouver — Alaska cruises from Seattle and cruises from Vancouver to Alaska both list live departures. Riviera also sails Australia and New Zealand, with departures from Sydney and Auckland; see Australia and New Zealand 2027 cruises for the current schedule. Transpacific repositioning voyages — some running to 70 nights — connect Asia and the Pacific to North America; repositioning cruises in 2027 lists the options.

As one of the UK’s leading cruise specialists, Cruise1st brings specialist knowledge of Oceania Cruises — not the generalist approach of a high-street travel agent. Real cruise experts are available on the phone before you book, ready to help you choose the right cabin grade and fare package for how you travel. Because every Riviera sailing currently on sale requires flying to the port — whether that’s Tokyo, Singapore, Seattle or Sydney — the Cruise1st Package option is worth knowing about: it puts the cruise, flights, hotel nights either side and transfers onto a single booking, which is particularly useful for the longer transpacific and Asia itineraries where multiple legs are involved.
If you’re weighing up similar sailings across Asia and the Pacific, these ships cover much of the same ground and depart from the same ports — no flight requirement differs between them and Riviera.
If you’d like to stay within the Oceania Cruises fleet, Oceania Vista is another ship in the same line that may be worth comparing.
The Grand Dining Room, Terrace Café, Aquamar Kitchen and Waves Grill are all included in your cruise fare with no reservation needed (Terrace Café accepts walk-ins). Polo Grill, Jacques, Toscana and Red Ginger operate à la carte with a cover charge; Privée charges for its wine-pairing tasting menus. Baristas coffee is complimentary throughout the day.
The Executive Lounge and Concierge Lounge — both keycard-access private spaces with complimentary drinks and a dedicated concierge team — are reserved for suite and Concierge Level guests. The Concierge Level Verandah (grade A1) is the entry point into these privileges; the Owner’s Suite (grade OS) sits at the top of the range at 185 m².
Classes at the Culinary Center are included in your cruise fare. Optional chef-led food tours in port are available at an additional charge, but the onboard programme itself is covered.
Current sailings range up to 70 nights, with transpacific repositioning voyages naturally at the longer end. Japan and Southeast Asia itineraries vary widely in length — the search results for each region show the full spread of durations currently on sale.
Yes — every sailing currently on sale departs from an overseas port, including Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore, Seattle and Hong Kong. Cruise1st can put the full trip together as a Cruise1st Package, covering flights, hotel stays either side and transfers alongside the cruise itself.
