Oder CruisesThe meandering Oder is a tranquil river which passes through the Czech Republic, flows between Poland and Germany, and then reaches the Baltic Sea. Where it passes between them, it forms the actual border between Germany and Poland. Although an unassuming, calm stretch of water, it is still an interesting sensation to be drifting down this stretch of no-man’s land! The Oder, known to the Romans as the Viadrus, was once an important trade route. Cruises along the Oder often start in Berlin and join the Oder from the Havel. Winding your way serenely along this wonderful stretch of water, you will glide past impressive imperial palaces and imposing twin-spired cathedrals. At other times you will pass through lush sections of green countryside. The main branch of the Oder ends in the Szczecin Lagoon, which is an inland water basin of stunning beauty.
